b12 tournament a good thing?

king mcclure claims otherwise this morning on b12 radio. says players are tired of playing one another and want to move on to the ncaa tournament. it seems to me nothing but a money grab, like the football championship game. yes, tcu should have been crowned. what say jayhawk fans? meaningful or money?

the BIG 12 tournament is the greatest of the conference tournaments by a wide margin.

It's meaningful for the money.

Do our players care about it as much as regular season title? I'd guess not.

Do they care enough to want to win it every year? Absolutely.

Is it a "good" thing? Depends who you ask.

I liked it when it was the holiday tournament. Not wild about it as an ACC copy. It had real merit when there were divisions. Not so much now. 21 conference games. Yow.

I like the aspect of it for the bottom feeders of our conference. Get hot for a few days and win it to make the NCAA tourney. That's cool to me.

As a KU fan this millennium, the Big 12 Tournament = JUNK!
As far as the tournament for other schools, could work out well at the end but the bottom line (that I don't like) is that in theory 18 games matter less than 3 or 4 games.

i agree with you, junk. ku, texas, k-state, others don't need another game, two, or three to prove anything. the league has been decided. ku won it. what are we playing this for other than money? it's always about the money. i get that.

I don't think it hurts. We won it both in '22 and '08, so the notion that it hurts you in the tournament isn't backed by data that I'm aware of.

I like the idea of everyone having one last shot at making the tournament. And I love watching the games during Championship Week from all conferences.

it hurts too often in football. i don't believe it matters at all to top tier teams in hoops other than the risk of injury, god forbid.

That would be OK by me. Didn't we beat K-state on the way to that title?

state won at afh, ku at ahearn, state at kc, and ku in the regionals v. mitch richmond's team. for some reason, this year just feels like it's going to happen again.

I am indifferent about the young man but I don't wish anything negative on him or his family.
I know he "lost" his brother in the past year.

He's what a 6 ppg and 6 rpg type of player? Very overrated. Not going to hurt TCU as much as some may think.

That being said, it would be very hard to play for Dixon.
