Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
I love Coach Roberts, but the plays coming out of timeouts weren't great.
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
Roberts lacks the fire. He should have been screaming tonight. Hate to lose a game playing soft. And have Yes take that last shot from Ames.

Listening to KJ and Jalen now...sad stuff, man.

Lost it at the free throw line. Just like in the Syracuse game with Nick.
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
Yea.
But that was in the final.
This was to a 12 loss Arkansas team.

That was not a 1-8 second round matchup. NCAA cooked this one up. Davis goes lights out in the second half. Perfect storm. Never expected them to repeat but did think they would get past today.

GGs Davis, Council, and rest of Arkansas squad. Kind of a perfect confluence of mistakes and breaks going against us to allow them to win. But such is life!
Get well Coach, and fuck you Illy for telling me not to cash out! Hahaha
Rock Chalk Y’all. Probably see y’alls again if the foosball team doesn’t suck to start year!

Call the charge and Kevin hits the game winner. Or bail out the 8th seed.
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
Agreed. I hoped they did but a lot of things had to go exactly right to not get tripped up by their weaknesses.hoopla wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:55 pmits a little early for me to judge, but i never thought we were winning it all. we had a nice season and all, but was i ever really convinced? no, not really.Sparko wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:54 pm Exciting year. But not in a good way. Teams were grabbing and holding all year. CBS was bragging about defense, but the play has been offensive. I almost stopped watching during the season. And Arkansas should not have been an 8 seed. The NCAA practically pulled a gun on KU to stop them this year.
Last year's title takes some sting off. Bummer end to a season but it's hard to win in the tourney with a HoF coach, let alone without.

This team over performed.
They weren’t a top team but played their asses off and were well coached ( per usual ).
We are a better team than Arkansas but just not tonight. But I couldn’t see us winning six without a ton of breaks.

This team on the run was good enough to win it all. In a foul fest, not so much. Not deep enough.
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
First ten minutes they went after I t on the defensive glass. Like that was a point of emphasis.
Then they forgot and gave up 15 offensive boards. 15.

bill self's absence lost that game along with awful free throw shooting down the stretch.
respectfully, captain obvious.

Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
Yeah, this loss stings, but it’s only a game. Just hope Coach Self is back and healthy. Coach Robert’s seems like a good guy, his coaching is more like D Manning, doesn’t yell or scream or seem to even get fired up. Self’s face would have been red and I think he would have come out with a different game plan in the second half. He’s a master of second half adjustments.
On to next season. Re-build, see who returns or leaves and get a couple shooting guards.

Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
isn’t silly just how often free throws can play such a big part in a win/loss?
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
In a game where every shot resulted in a push or a grab, free throws caused a palpable flinch. Like Beard's girlfriend making a valid point.KUTradition wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 9:40 am isn’t silly just how often free throws can play such a big part in a win/loss?
Re: Kansas vs Arkansas Official Game Thread
I think the game was both: too controlled by the officials and not enough if that even makes sense.
And I’d prefer not enough in the end because, I dunno, I like basketball not free throw shooting contests.
