Well, this is a 5man rotation, with 2 emergency players in Parker and Elmarko.

Best starting 5 in the country.

If Furphy is this dude, like 12-17 PPG, I agree.

Bill Self called Furphy a "real guy". He turned out to be a huge get late in the recruiting season. Elmarko has a ton of talent but the game still looks too fast for him.

Furphy will have to start drawing more attention from B12 defenses which will open it up for McCullar, KJ and Moneybags.

Furphy ain’t a fluke.

Sophomore furphy doesn't feel guaranteed anymore

I’ll bet real money he will not be in the draft next season.

If I had to bet, I'd agree with you.

But, wouldn't be the first freshman to struggle early/barely play, flash potential, go on a tear, and get drafted.

Kelly oubre wasn't playable at the beginning of his freshman season and by the end was drafted 15th overall

Oubre was on the radar as a one and done all year iirc. Even after his slow start.

Furphy looks really good in our system. Put him in a combine type setting where every player is worried about making themselves look good and not moving the ball the way KU does and I think he'd look a lot different. Almost everything Furphy gets so far is a result of good offense and ball movement.

And that's ignoring defense and athleticism. Not that he's unathletic. He isn't. But by NBA standards he doesn't have above average size or leaping ability.

“ Kansas was lights-out offensively on Saturday, but it's been the continued emergence of Johnny Furphy as a legitimate offensive option that takes the Jayhawks to another level at that end of the floor. All season, Bill Self spoke about the need to find a reliable fifth player outside of his four veteran anchors -- Hunter Dickinson, Kevin McCullar Jr., KJ Adams and Dajuan Harris Jr. At different times, Elmarko Jackson, Nicolas Timberlake and Jamari McDowell all stepped up, but nobody could do it consistently until Furphy was inserted into the lineup in mid-January. He's scored in double-figures in six straight games, and went for 17 points and eight rebounds on Saturday against Houston…”

Kansas now 17th in AdjO and 19th in AdjD.

Back into the range where national championships typically come from.

The team is doing the typical Self special—ramp up in February to be a top squad.

Last season we didn’t make it there.
This season has a much better shot.

This team is elite, but no margin for error. We look average in a hurry when we aren't fully locked in.

2-3 in away games.
Will need to step up there.

ksu, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Baylor and Houston left.
Tough.

We are a different team at home, that's for sure.

I don't watch enough CBB ( you'd have to watch 15-20 games a week ) to be able to determine which player is the best defender in the nation and metrics only can go so far.

I do know that both those dudes are studs defensively.

I agree. Unless it's a guy who blocks a shit ton of shots, it becomes very subjective. Coaching makes a huge difference. Team defensive scheme makes a huge difference.
