Priceline Picks the Hotel.

Post by jhawks99 »

I've usually had pretty good luck doing this. Well, it just ran out today. 2.5 star for cheap.

Place is a semi remodeled dump. Plastic floors that aren't glued down very well. Old school bathtub and shower. Tiny. Kinda smelly. Dude running the place is really nice and I think he's doing the remodeling himself.

He asked if I was 99 when I walked in the office door. There's like 2 other cars in the parking lot.

They have breakfast in the morning. I'm a little worried.

I've had some really good hotels in the past. Law of averages caught up with me this time.

There was some "activity" going on in the parking lot last night that had me a little worried. Turned out to be NBD.

Anyone else to the "Let Priceline Pick" thing? I've done it probably a dozen times and have had really good hotels when I could pin down what they were. Mostly decent and this is the first "Yikes" that I had.

And I really did like the manager. I suspect he's the franchisee and I hope he makes a go of it. Everything is clean and has a fresh coat of paint.

I’ve used Priceline a few times, but not in a while. I always just sort of assumed that, one way or another (whether quality, or specific location, or under renovation, whatever), I’d end up with the “worst” hotel in the star band I was purchasing in.

My dumb?/smart?/neutral? assumption too.
Thus, I prefer to go the "Let Gutter Pick" route.

Thankfully 99 survived and is still with us today.

There's a public storage place just outside my window. Billy Joe Ray Bob has been pounding his back hoe against a rock all morning in their parking lot.
