I like the pairing with the big east. Big east is a conference focused on basketball

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... l-rankings
"1. UConn Huskies
The Huskies will enter the 2023-24 college basketball season with hopes of going back-to-back. Adama Sanogo could opt to leave, but Donovan Clingan -- if he returns -- is waiting in the wings and would immediately get preseason All-America attention despite coming off the bench this season. We can expect Jordan Hawkins to leave given his rise to a borderline lottery pick, but Andre Jackson Jr. could come back for another season. Either way, Dan Hurley is bringing in an elite recruiting class led by five-star Stephon Castle. ESPN 100 wings Solomon Ball and Jaylin Stewart are also high-ceiling prospects.
Projected starting lineup:
Stephon Castle (No. 15 in ESPN 100)
Solomon Ball (No. 55 in ESPN 100)
Jaylin Stewart (No. 84 in ESPN 100)
Alex Karaban (9.5 PPG)
Adama Sanogo (17.1 PPG)"

That'll be fun. We haven't had many matchups with them.

Have we ever played UConn in the house?
I remember playing them in KC along with the womens' teams. KU women just about beat the Huskies, and then the men blew 'em out.
I can't remember really ever playing them in the regular season.

I was trying to think of regular season matchups and I couldn't.

From what I found, KU has played UConn 3 times. Never in Allen.

Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
our commissioner might have inserted byu or uc or ucf into the challenge rather than tejass and ou. i would have dug that big time.

The last one I remember well.
Was around St. Patty's Day and was in Cape Cod - so very Irish - watching Perry and Selden dominate em.

So, Selden could dunk, after all?

Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
I was at that Kemper game.
UConn kept pressing JV at half court…and he broke it down dozens of times.
Fucking Jayhawk layup drill for most of that game!

Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
January 1997. KU and UConn were the top 2, I believe UConn was #1. It was the weekend before my daughter 1 was born. I was living in Eastern Connecticut at that time, working for a large pharmaceutical company. My colleague, also KU grad, had two tickets to the game in Hartford. We were probably the only two KU fans in the entire state! Unfortunately, family obligations (possible birth of child!) precluded me from joining him. Paul Pierce played a monster game and we won. Great game, but I was timing contractions to pay full attention to the game!!NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 10:08 am I was trying to think of regular season matchups and I couldn't.
Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
You're misremembering; UConn wasn't very good in 1997; 18-15, got 3rd place in the postseason NIT.zsn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 1:02 amJanuary 1997. Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
Yes, you’re right, we were ranked 1 and UConn was unranked on 19 Jan 1997. My daughter was born the next evening (day of Clinton’s second inauguration). Rest of the details are mostly correct per my recollection
Re: 2023 Big XII/Big East Battle
No prob., my recollection of winning the Masters that one time isn't that clear, either.
