Tennessee Legislature

Post by jhawks99 »

Wow, they're not racist.

Cowards and snowflakes. All of them .

I hope this backfires on them 100 times over.

The republican fascists are letting their racism show.

shameful, quite frankly
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

They aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

This party loves to invoke the founding fathers. As I was lucky enough to have attended grade school when history was still taught, I learned that there was much disagreement and fighting over our Constitution. They didn't cancel each other. They worked through it and compromised.

Seems these America-hating Republicans don't care. Their guns, lobbyist money and power are more important than their "principles ". But we knew that. They just continue to show it more and more blatantly.

...Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart a** New York Jew
And the Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
And the audience laughed at Lester Maddox too
Well he may be a fool but he's our fool
If they think they're better than him they're wrong
So I went to the park and I took some paper along
And that's where I made this song

...We are rednecks, we're rednecks
We don't know our a**
From a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the n*****s down

Now your northern n*****'s a negro
You see he's got his dignity
Down here we're too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the n***** free...

Probably a better chance of protesting (hopefully?) and rioting (hopefully not) in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga.

When republican racists, I mean, republican fascists, show you who they are, believe them. And, talk about a "self-own": an act by which one unintentionally embarrasses oneself or harms one's own interests.

Just like the dog that finally caught the car and then had no idea what to do with it; and just like when republicans realized their decades-long "small government" fever dream of stacking the SCOTUS to overturn Roe vs Wade so they could seize control of the nation's uteri last spring motivating voters in both red and blue states across the nation to make them pay in referendums and elections ever since, republicans are going to rue the day they did this, because Gen Z voters don't share their fear of anything and everything "other", and aren't going stand for this kind of blatant overreach of racism and fascism in the decades to come.

Who amongst us had any idea who Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were before today? And now, thanks to republicans, these two previously anonymous, articulate young men are superstars, with very bright political futures.

I had pretty much written this guy off as cray cray recently, but thanks to republicans, he's beginning to seem more and more mainstream with time.

i heard that it doesn’t, and that they’re both likely to run and get re-elected

Correct. All that's been done is turn them into martyrs and draw massive negative attention to the Rs.

Do they have to wait until the next election cycle or is there a special election set up to fill those two seats?

My understanding is that it'll be a special election.

So how much does a special election cost the state of Tennessee?
