Five-star big man Derik Queen updates recruitment
https://247sports.com/Article/Derik-Que ... 55202/Amp/
Derik Queen, one of the top bigs in the class of 2024 is coming off two dominant weekends to start the AAU season.
The 6-foot-9 forward is currently ranked No.8 in the class of 2024 and is continuing to expand his skillset.
…
“Maryland, Indiana, West Virginia, Kansas, Seton Hall, and Auburn are the main schools right now.”
one of this things is not like the others…

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

If I'm not mistaken, David McCormack is the only McDonald's AA on the last 3 national championship teams.
UConn didn't have any. I can't think of any that the Baylor team had.

Re: 2023-2024 recruits
former Auburn commit, Labaron Philon, has re-opened his recruitment
As a sophomore at Baker, the 6-foot-4 combo guard was the MaxPreps, Gatorade and Alabama Mr. Basketball of the Year in 2022. Philon averaged 34.7 points, six rebounds and four assists for Baker this season, finishing with 1,075 points on the year and leading the Hornets to a 24-7 record. In his high school career, he's already totaled 2,334 points.
In the Class of 2024, 247Sports ranks Philon as the No. 37 overall player, No. 5 point guard and No. 1 player in the state of Alabama. He originally chose Auburn over Alabama, Arkansas, Houston, Kansas and Ole Miss. Ole Miss of course now being where Flanigan is an assistant coach after departing Auburn's staff this off-season.

Can't see how we lose out to Indiana in this day and age, but
I might be biased.

Re: 2023-2024 recruits
Mgbako isn't a 23-24 HS recruit as he is Class of '23 and would play for KU in the upcoming season but yeah, I don't see us losing out to IU for him. Wonder when he is going to announce.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
wonder where all the playing time is gonna come from.....Bill loves KJ, Marcus adams is supposedly a stud, Mgbako plays the same position.....
Just Ledoux it
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
Quality depth. You need at least 2 or 3 good wing players. Or maybe a stretch 4. We suffered last season when starters struggled. Guys need to compete for playing time. Bill uses bench when he has guys on the bench he can trust.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
If you have a chance to get a guy with Mbako's talent - you get him.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
we just have to offer more nil$$$ than indiana. hopefully we didn’t shoot our wad on the big white kid.
"hey don't blame me, i am going to vote for some random dude"
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
Agreed. Playing time will sort itself out based on who does the work in practice and who is sharp enough to understand their assignments. Take every bit of talent you can get, especially a Top 15 recruit who is a 6'8" wing with a nice jumper. If it was last November, we'd all be clamoring for KU to land this kid.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
It looks like Bill is trying to load up on shooters and length - 2 things we were short on last season. We had 1 knock-down shooter who was face guarded most of the season, 2 average shooters, and a 6-7 center.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
Mgbako to announce his decision this Friday
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
Mike Vernon says there's a 95% Mgbako picks KU on Friday.
Re: 2023-2024 recruits
My sources say 99% chance.

Seems to be a high amount of confidence all around. We'll see but I like KU's chances.KUTradition wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 2:59 pm fwiw, Dickinson tweeted “lykyk” accompanied by a radar gif today
Oh, and IU has some really delusional fans as to the allure of Wooden as a coach and where IU is in the sport right now. I am glad they are back to being respectable but come on.

I was confused for a moment.....Wooden was born in Indiana but has no other ties to the university.....went to Purdue and coached briefly at Indiana St....but....no Hoosier connection.....
