Rice seemed slow last year. At least Elmarko is speedy.

He does get to the wrong place faster than most, true.

Tough crowd.

Kansas fans have been downright vicious towards some of the KU players this year. Sad.

I see Kansas basketball as something that brings me mostly happy feelings....and occasionally sad feelings when we lose the last game of the season. I'm not sure I'd want to watch if it got to the point where I dislike most of the players. Almost to the point it seems some subconsciously hope for the players they dislike to do poorly and lose games so that they can roast them for it.

that happens when there's so much turnover that we don't know the players and when the big "recruit" we got is more worri3d about himself and making money than anything else.

I've been hard on Hunter, I will continue to be, I just don't like his style, maybe that's unfair but oh well. He's also a rental and I really couldn't care less where he goes or what he does when hes done here.

I've been hard on Nick, perhaps unfairly, I will admit that. But when you are brought in for a specific job and you are terrible at that specific job......youre gonna get some grief. At least I do believe he's really trying and does seem to care. My harshness on him is mainly frustration, as opposed to actual dislike

Elmarko seems like MJ Rice 2.0, another "talented" kid who doesn't seem to understand what Self and staff are asking of him.
Disagree. Elmarko has a role, and gives us decent minutes. We just desperately need shooting on the floor and he doesn't give us that

2) and when the big "recruit" we got is more worri3d about himself and making money than anything else.
1) I definitely understand and feel the same. I have a different interest level in guys like Kj and DH. Multi year guys who stick it out and improve. True Jayhawks.

2) I do not think Hunter has done anything since he's been at KU to use as evidence that he's more worried about himself and making money than anything else. He's an unselfish basketball player. Willing passer. He's slow, but that doesn't mean he isn't trying hard and doesn't care. I think some of these things are really tough to judge from the outside, but I think if they were going on that he wouldn't be so embraced by DH KM Kj and Bill Self.

Yes, his celebrations are corny. But so was the bow and arrow CB tried out his freshman year.

I don't think HD is a bad teammate. I just haven't seen it at KU. HD seems like he wants to win and wants to get better. His improvement defensively as the year has progressed is evidence of him doing just that.

His commitment video and comments prior to the season weren't ideal, but Bill Self willingly took part in the video, so I'll just chalk it up to the new way things are.

Yeah hunter ain't that bad. He's a good college player trying to make the most of his opportunities and enjoy playing ball.

We just hate the change in college sports that he "represents"
And it sucks we lost a couple promising likable young players in the process

"The people hating on me would leave their job right now for a $10,000 increase," Dickinson said, ""I got, at Michigan, less than six figures."

:/

That's before our PR team came to him and said, 'whoa, dude, no. you can't say stuff like that'.
But he already showed his true colors - it's who the dude is.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my question.
Graham and Mason or Brunson and Hart?

he swung his arm between his legs because he hit a shot.....a shit that didn't win the game. after missing 9 consecutive free throws. He doesn't rebound well other than being big.

he gets 18 and 10 but doesn't necessarily make the team better.

that's who he is.

He reminds me of the guy at the bar that tells everyone how awesome he is.....if you gotta tell people how awesome and tough you are or that you are the man......you aren't awesome or tough, or the man.

I don't feel what he said was all that dumb, other than if we are going to say it was dumb to be be honest and transparent.
Michigan fans were hating on him for leaving. He admitted he left for a bigger payday.
Hey, maybe don't hate the playa, hate the game?
Self left Illinois to come to KU. Why? He was offered a better job. Coaching at a more prestigious program and offered more money to do it. Why would anyone find fault in that - other that they feel you owe it to THEM not to leave because they will say you weren't loyal to THEM.

I assume most people on here realize for many years kids have been paid to come to Kansas and for some of them, the $ was the biggest reason why they chose KU. Why not ridicule them too - for showing their true colors - if you are going to ridicule Dickinson?

He's having one of the best rebounding seasons of the Self era. We've had a lot of guys who were big not be able to do what he's done.

Stats don't seem to support the idea that he doesn't make the team better.

58%eFG
27%dRB
14%ast
27%usage

32min per game
18pts
11rebs
2ast
1blk
1stl

That's an elite season for a Self big.

He is not an elite celebration specialist. Kj does quite a bit of celebrating too....but his is cooler looking.

I guess it's better than being a talented transfer that comes to Kansas just to lose confidence like Yesefu or Timberlake

We're going to have 2 All Americans this year. They're both transfers.

That's just the nature of the beast these days.

So, would your opinion of specific past guys you like sour if it turned out they talked or acted like this as recruits/players? I'm not sitting on a gotcha, or trying to start a fight. Really just talking.

You could bring up a guy like sherron Collins, the beloved jayhawk. Who was about as cocky a man that ever walked through Lawrence

Hunter said dumb things.

Hunter does dumb celebrations.

Hunter doesn't cause off court issues.

Hunter doesn't cause on court issues.

Hunter is going to be an All American at least once and maybe twice at KU.

I totally get why it's off-putting. And, when the team is skidding and you're bricking FTs, putting bad looks out there to say the very least.

But I also see a guy who knows this is, for the basketball part of his life, probably as good as it gets for him (or, as he knows, for all but the tiniest handful of people to ever dribble a basketball).
