How does one "shut up and teach?"
Also, the directive isn't "shut up and teach". It's "shut up and teach what my donors tell me to tell you to teach, even where your training, common sense and well-developed intuition says different."

Why would someone put up with that, and with the crazy hours that actually go into teaching, for like $38k or whatever? Not to mention, you know, the very real possibility of being shot to death in the course of doing that job?

don’t forget the combination of being stripped of funding (and now having to pay out of pocket for supplies) while also seeing more stringent “success” metrics being applied
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

The republican plan to end public education and make us pay for the indoctrination of children in "christian" schools with our tax dollars, marches on:

The republican fascists aren't coming, they're here.

Intimidating people who aren't part of their cult who run for local office, like in this case, the school board, is just one of the ways they're using violence to further their goals.

(The videos are rather glitchy, which is apparently not a bug but a feature on Leon's twitter.)

And I am constantly reminded that you are clueless as to how education actually works.

Not to be outdone by Gov Meathead, Texas takes it to the "next level"!

If she leaves (she would have to be a fool not to have gotten her resume update in order) how long will it take A&M to find someone of the same qualifications?

I saw the worst minds of my generation empowered by madness, bloated farcical naked,
dragging themselves through the whitewashed streets at dawn looking for a grievance fix.

Do people learn, grow and get better more from what they or those before them did right or what they did wrong? In most cases it seems to be "what they did wrong".

Do people feel better about themselves more when it is pointed out what they or those before them did right or what they did wrong? In most cases it seems to be "what they did right".

So it seems that the current GOP focus is on making sure that white kids feel good about themselves, not that they learn, grow and get better. Which seems to align with a number of different GOP policies.
