You're right; he doesn't owe anyone transparency. I just think that "guess which QB is gonna play" tactic is beneath where this program is now. Line our guys up with their guys and out-coach the other sideline.
Srsly? This sort of simple sh*t has gone on since Lombardi and Brown. Probably before that, but certainly after and up to the present . I'll bet DC has a story or three.

Not nefarious, not dirty. Just gamesmanship. I'm sure there must be sports where sand-bagging never occurs, but FB ain't one of 'em

I think we're all just dealing with well-earned QB fan-trauma. Watching a revolving door of ineffective, overmatched noodle-arms (and a revolving door of ineffective, overmatched gameplans).

How many different players were direct snapped to Saturday?
Under/over set at 4.

Way over. Considering punts and XP.

Let me revise by excluding the usuals.
Direct snaps on offense, not special teams.

I remember Ballard, Neal, Hishaw and Locklin.

Bean jumps up to 9th all time in career passing yards. If he starts the bowl game he should move to 8th.

It would be nice to see him go out on a great performance.

With 449 yards ( and 6 TDs!! ) last night Bean actually moves up to 7th all time.

Beans 6 TDs ties a Kansas record with Todd Reesing for single game passing TDs.

I believe his last TD also broke a tie with Carter Stanley for 2nd (seriously?) on our all-time TD list.

Yes.
2nd all time in passing TDs.
4th all time in total TDs ( jumping June Henley ).

Todd Reesing of course is astronomically ahead in those categories plus total yardage.

Bean doesn't get enough credit for his arm imho. Super fast for sure, but he makes some of those long throws look easy.

Thanks for staying Jason. A true blue Jayhawk!

So, what do you do with him?

You can't - I think - put him in the ring. But I also think there's a very real chance we look back on him being the connective tissue between the abyss and what we all hope is a long period of good.

I think it would be appropriate for there to be SOMETHING permanent for him...because without him, a different kind of permanent might not have happened.

He’s not ring good.
If they do renovations to the stadium and make some sort of museum deal, he should be highlighted in a manner you described—a bridge player.

I say his next career might determine that. He could go full on Lamar Jackson if a pro team is smart.

Everyone in the Ring of Honor seems to have made multiple All Conference teams at the very least. I don't think Bean belongs there but he should 100% be recognized prominently in the new stadium as a key player on the teams that led the resurgence of KU football that made building the new stadium even possible.
