Not sure I ever remember feeling this way.
I always feel this way after KU loses in the Big 12 Tourney. They just never play this early in the week so they never lose this early in the week. I may watch some of the conference title games this Saturday. Depends on if I get a better offer to go do something or not.

I might watch a touch of the B12 semis.
I’d also consider watching Houston ISU tomorrow but no other combo.

I'll watch B12 games. I think B12 may have some troubles in NCAA tourney games because of how much contact our conference officials let them get away with.

Next best thing to a KU win is an Illness loss.
NU Corn up 13 with 2:30 left to play in the 1st.

Illness decided to play defense in the 2nd half.

ISU is an example of just great long term coaching.
Lipsey was what, a 2-3 star recruit?
Gilbert barely a top 100?
Robert Jones?

What’s the “you gotta have top talent” crowd say now?

I'm not totally saying you're totally wrong....long term coaching is needed, especially at some positions.

But Iowa State was 19-14 last year. 22-13 the year before. 2-22 the year before that.

This year they got 2nd in regular season conference race. Won big 12 tournament.

Let's see how they do from here on out.

I'm assuming you mean after this season. If so, probably not too good after Otzelberger leaves for Louisville. ;)

You ( illy ) are avoiding my original question about talent.

Answer please since this question is largely directed at you. You seem to think coaching is simply just getting the most nba ready dudes.

Sorry, wasn't intentionally not answering.

No, that's not what I think. I think it's a mixture.

I think we need 2+ NBA ready caliber players each year (a Gradey Dick type). 2 DH/Kj type players. And then a 2-3 year development player with NBA potential (CB/Och/JW type). And then we need a bench that compliments the limitations that the 4+ year DH/Kj type players are undoubtedly going to have (because that's why they're 4+ year players).

Kentucky has 2 likely top 10 picks. UConn has 2 likely top 20 picks.
Duke has 2 likely top 20 picks.
Baylor has 2 likely top 25 picks.

Lots of the top teams have NBA talent. They aren't all like Iowa State. It's not like top talent is bad to have. I don't think we can do it (what we want to do, which is win national championships) with only Kj/DH types. And it's not like we don't have any NBA talent, Furphy is probably a lock 1st rounder now and KM will definitely get drafted somewhere....but DH Kj HD Elmarko Timberlake McDowell Braun and Clemence won't, like ever probably. Maybe Elmarkom. We need more talent. More shooting.

Our recruiting has not been great recently. Other schools are out recruiting us, and it probably shouldn't be that way now that Self is the top coach in CBB. I don't want 7 one and done's each year either, but the best players eventually play in the NBA and I want Kansas to have the best players because that gives them the best chance to win national championships.

How is ISU doing it?
They will be a 2 seed.
