T-Day

Putting together a menu.

Pecan smoked turkey.
Sausage dressing.
Taters
Gravy
Cranberries cooked with ginger, orange juice and Grand Marnier.
Sweet potatoes of some kind.
Veggie to be named later.
Homemade rolls
Pies

I've seen lots of menus with Mac and cheese. Doesn't seem like T-day food to me.

3 things.
1. Sounds awesome, what time should I be there?
2. Ever tried using cheap orange liquor? Personally I have not noticed a difference when using Grand Marnier vs cheap-ass triple sec for cooking. You'd know better than me though.
3. Don't forget the game thread

Where's the dressing?

(And don't give my any of that "dressing" with oysters in it, because that

"Doesn't seem like T-day food to me", either.)

My mom's sausage dressing is the whole reason for the dinner.

I've made oyster dressing in the past. No one else will eat it.

Mac n Cheese definitely isn’t traditional, but it sure makes everyone go, ‘whooooooo’

Right.
If i'm having Thanksgiving dinner and someone brings out some delicious looking Mac, I'm gonna go, 'huh at Thanksgiving?', but then still put a big helping on my plate ( on the opposite side of the gravy splash ).

cheesy scalloped potatoes are more fitting than Mac and cheese but they're essentially the same idea. I'm eating both of them if available.

I've never understood the sweet potatoes and marshmallow combo that seems so common.

I don't like sweet potatoes.
That and canned cranberry sauce.
Those don't go on my plate on TDay.

i’m leaning towards a reduced menu this year

smoked turkey
special stuffing
mashed taters
green bean casserole
pumpkin pie

That would be exactly ( assuming gravy doesn't have to be listed ) what I would pare it down to if my list was max 5.

My wife likes sweet potatoes.
I roast them with ginger, a little diced onion, brown sugar, a little molasses (sorghum if I can find it) and a half a ton of butter.

Just seeing this. Grand Marnier is the stuff. No substitute. Plus I get to have a glass.

Corn was always a fixture growing up in Kansas.
They don't do it up here which I don't mind.
But they definitely didn't do green bean casserole so I make that. Cannot do without.

I am in disbelief that Gran Marnier is used for anything other than making a margarita more yummy.
