It would cost the Chiefs more than $32 million to franchise tag Jones this year, which would significantly hurt their ability to do basically anything else this offseason. They need to bring in offensive tackles, and they have other players on defense to sign. They should probably spend to sign a wide receiver one of these days, too."

I would be trying ASAP to find if anyone would have interest in giving a conditional 2nd ( plays 9 games or something )/ otherwise 3rd round pick to 'win' the rights to a franchise tagged Chris Jones...instead of a bidding war with other teams, you are guaranteed Jones for a 2nd rounder.

Chiefs absolutely ended up doing the right thing and not budging this year...but now it's just not gonna work again and they have to try and get something out of it.
I agree with you.

But I would also orient toward flexibility - do NOT do things in a way that makes it impossible to walk away without meaningful penalty if you can’t get what you want in trade.

I love CJ. But unless he would be willing to take a LOT less than his market to stay, I say “see ya at the Ring of Honor induction.”

Brian Thomas Jr and Troy Franklin seem to be in that 20-30 range in mocks.
I would take either of those dudes ( would prefer Thomas Jr ) if they fell to 32.
Take the spot of MVS but be better at it.

NFL discussing changing kick off to XFL rules.
I'd much prefer that over eliminating it and probably over the current fair catch auto advance to the 25 yard line.

Heard this morning that Marvin Harrison, Jr. is not doing any workouts or interviews, and not hiring an agent. The workouts/interviews part is a no-brainer - and, much less commonly, so too is the agent thing (assuming he has no skeletons to keep out of sight).

A LOT of scenarios being discussed/debated with the Bears.
Here are 3 and you're the GM.

Trade Fields and the #9 pick for the #3 pick - then what do you do?
Don't trade Fields. Keep the #1 and the #9 - then what do you do?

I am not a Caleb Williams believer. There are 2 or 3 other QBs that I think might be better in the NFL than him.

I certainly don't think he is some sort of franchise QB that sets you up at QB for 10 years. Not really sure there is one of those this year.

I watched him once and I saw why some have made Mahomes comps.

If you’re New England I think fans will go rabid if you don’t draft one of the top 3 QBs but I might trade down with the Raiders and get no. 13, their 2nd this year, their 1st next year and their 2nd in 2026.

I draft best available at 13 ( NE needs a lot on offense ) then use my high 2nd to get Penix. Dunno why but I think he could be just as good as one of those top 3.

If Penix is in the 2nd round, and you even THINK you have (or will have) a QB need, you would be dumb not to grab him.

He could very well drop to the 2nd.
He has a history of injuries and people think Washington’s offense resulted in his success.

I’d take a shot on him for sure ( I mean not KC but if I needed a QB )

He has the talent for sure. He seems to mostly just need some good coaching on how to read pre-snap and adjust to what he sees. Mahomes had similar "issues" when he first came into the league. Those are learnable things if you get with the right coaching staff.

Agree.
That was my initial fear with Mahomes too.

I think that the best thing to happen to Mahomies' development was Alex Smith.

Penix is basically like RG III. He seems likely to travel the IR list frequently
