But at the very least this gives teams dealing with us less leverage.
They can't say, 'well we know you can't sign Sneed anyways'.

I'd still deal him for something in that low 1st to mid 2nd range.
Or low 2nd with a 4th.

I think our secondary can figure it out without him and i'd like to have that 19 million to work with.
I agree with all of this.

I suspect the Mahomes thing was about making sure the Jones deal could get done despite Sneed's cap hold.

Chargers are gonna have to cut some BIG fish loose today, which should suppress the WR market at the lower end, which is where Veach wants to be. I suspect that's part of why we haven't been in the Gabe Davis-ish zone - we don't think we need to pay $13mm for that once the cap casualties are added to the mix.

Imagine if they cut Keenan.
I highly doubt it...but Keenan on the Chiefs is perfection.

It'd be great, but I think the number won't make sense. Unless Allen perceives (probably not incorrectly) that he's probably outside looking in for Canton at the moment.

He's getting up in age.
2 years, 14 million/year, 28 mill guaranteed?

That's slightly more than I'd be comfortable going, which means it's probably the right deal for the market. I wouldn't be sad paying effectively 70% of Mike Evans money to Keenan Allen.

Lions traded for a corner so i'm guessing they are out on the Sneed sweepstakes.

Yeah the Lions and the Steelers both made moves so they both out.

The Bears tagged their corner and then signed to basically 4 year 76 million contract. The difference is their corner is 24 and Sneed is 27 so four years from now....so there is a chance that Sneed is not getting another team to offer the contract he is looking for. Which would bring him back to the Chiefs

And probably at a number that may let them bring back Sneed for a year.

Sounds like 1 year 7 mill with incentives. Some incentives may not count against the cap. I like it.

Injury prone but he is easily our field stretcher now.

I still think you draft a WR in the first 2 rounds.

There's still some whispers of the Chiefs signing Tyler Boyd.
I think if that happens then you don't need to draft a WR unless one falls to you.

I'd rather they draft someone than take Boyd.

Yes, me as well.

But that option is there. He'd work well with Hollywood and Rashee. Good hands, good run blocker.
And in this case, maybe you just take best available - maybe a tackle?

Between who they lost and who they added in free agency, which NFL teams improved the most? My gut says it's the Chiefs, Texans, Commanders and Bears but I'd have to look closer. Sneed returning would lock in KC at the top. Where it shakes out after the draft will be fun.

At this point, if you can make cap work, just keep Sneed unless you get a 2nd round or better offer.
You'll get a 3rd if he leaves next season to sign elsewhere anyways.
