Isn't Dajuan top 5 in all time assists at KU? What's Tharpe?

Tharpe could have been top 5 too if Self got all sentimental and gave him 45 years to start, winning be damned.

If you're saying Dajuan is closer on the spectrum talent wise to Tharpe than Frank Mason, ok, yes.
If you're saying Dajuan is about on par with Tharpe, incorrect, no.

If KJ gets in a knife fight this summer I will revisit the situation.
All I said was they’re the closest to the situation you describe.

I want KJ back. I would guess that KJ wants to be back, and that Self wants him back.

The question is whether there’s enough overlap between how each sees next year going, such that this remains the right fit.

The reason there are not a lot of great examples of outbound transfers of guys who have been here for a while is that, in almost every case, that overlap has been found.
You were talking about thinking something I said was comical yesterday?
Consider it pure comedy that you aren't linking NIL and the transfers associated with a situation like this ( again if KJ actually means he does not know ).
I think it’s part of the math, sure. How dominant a part, of course I have no idea. KJ’s been through a lot, and it’s possible his priorities now are different from what they were before everything the last few years.

But, as to the player, the fundamental question itself is not any different than it was five or twenty or fifty years ago, or what any of us face when making big decisions like this: is the juice (what I’d get from leaving) worth the squeeze (what I’d give up to leave)?

Based only on what we know, I’d be SHOCKED if Bill wants him gone. But I also would be SHOCKED if he wants to use KJ the same way/amount next year as he did this year.

So, while I expect KJ to be back (and to be awesome), it would not SHOCK me if KJ wants something Bill can’t and won’t promise. And if he’s not back, I do not think it’s necessarily, automatically, representative of “new age” evils.

If KJ is not back it would be the first example of where a very good 2 year starter who has been nothing but passionate at Kansas and hasn't fucked up by knife fighting would be skipping his senior year.

I think I can put two and two together.

You can't.

It's OK, you don't have to explain the meaning behind Attack of the Clones to me, I kinda got the gist on the first watch.

I can put them together. It’s new factors in the same decision framework. We disagree on whether, on the balance, those new factors are good or bad for the sport, and I’m not trying to change your mind.

(This would probably NOT be the right time to tell you that I think Episode III is awesome in its full-throated, fully-winking commitment to camp. Completely tonally inconsistent with the saga, so don’t take this any further than what I’m saying: for what it was, it was really funny.)

It's closer than I thought it'd be.

Tharpe played 1,892 total minutes and had 304 total assists. That is .1607 assists per minute.

Dajuan has played 4,083 total mimutes and has 676 total assists. That is .1655 assists per minute.

Lemme just go pick that bone with PDub instead.

Dang.

"I dunno if Tharpe’s fuckup was that big a deal.
Self at least said it wasn’t."

Another just making something up by Ousdahl.
could you please, then, clarify why the photo surfaced in March 2014, yet Tharpe didn't leave the team until May?

Or for that matter, where anywhere says that Tharpe was dismissed from the team for the milf tits pic?

Cuz all I can find about it now is this stuff about wanting to be closer to his daughter with medical issues, and Self supporting his decision.

Of course the school issued a "disappointed" statement at the time. But if it WAS that big a deal, I dunno why Self took over a month to do anything about it.

My comment that it was more Tharpe loosing his starting job to Mason, I think, was just message bored chatter at the time. And, again at the time, I recall some clip of Self in a presser and some reporter asks if Tharpe's departure had anything to do with the photo, and Self just kinda went full Self and chuckled and said he doesn't, uh, uh, uh, worry much about that kind of stuff, and that Tharpe's departure was about Tharpe's sick daughter.

But, I can't find the clip now, so maybe I AM making it up.

For real tho, if you're gonna do me like that, from now on at least take it to the QT thread so I can respond more appropriately.

genuinely not sure where that line is supposed to be drawn between, " closer on the spectrum talent wise" and "about on par"

sorry for so many posts in a row but I like geeking out to KU hoops and gotta catch up on message boarding after work.

Know what other stat is closer than I thought it'd be?

Tharpe made 84 three-point shots at KU.

Dajuan's made 87.

...and I was gonna try another just making something up about how many minutes it took each player to make that many but you already said that anyway.

Frank Mason was like a 99 College 2k score.
Dajuan is like a 77.
Tharpe was like a 63.

77 is closer to 63 than it is 99.
77 is not about on par with 63.

Something like a 65 would be about on par with 63.

If we are talking simply offense then I might agree with you more that Dajuan is about on par as Tharpe.
However there is an entire other part to playing basketball of which Dajuan is elite at and Tharpe was not.
