He’s not a lottery pick this year. Just haven’t been overly impressed with him this season.
He's supposed to be a senior in high school, so I'm willing to give him another chance to become a lottery pick, next season when he's the age of a freshman, or the one after that.
He's also Australian, which means he starts with a mental deficit. If he can overcome that, he can be pretty special.
That too.

He seems to be the player with most growth potential. Elmarko should, but who knows. He seemed lost.
At this point, I’d be OK if they both didn’t come back.
Furphy clearly has elite potential next year if he has a good offseason. Would LOVE to have him back. Elmarko might be a good guard off the bench 2 seasons from now if he sticks around. He just isn't reliable enough to count on at all right now.

If KU gets McNeeley and then lands two good transfers out of the portal, they will be right back in the mix next year.
The key for any Self team is a veteran team, think 08, 12, 18 (yes it counts) & 22. Those teams were older and had played with each other for a few years, for the most part. Yes, it’s hard to keep guys around in this new modern era, but that’s why Self is considered the best college coach in the country.

I'll refrain from pointing out Self has never been to 9 (or 8 or 7 or 6 or 5?) consecutive Sweet 16s.

Sweet 16s are great at a place like Gonzaga..

How many national titles does Few have?
Exactly. Sweet 16s are indeed great at a place like Gonzaga.
A program that Mark Few made one of the best in the country this millennium - at a Jesuit school in Spokane Washington.
I feel he's a great coach who deserves praise, and yet everyone likes to find fault in Few come tournament time. Sorry, I'm not "everyone".

To answer your question, he doesn't have as many national titles as Self.
Self is a great coach too. Probably a better coach than Few. Part of the reason why I pointed out as great as Self has been, he never accomplished something Few has - that I give Few credit for.

Few isn't one of the best. Unless when you say best you mean around 10th or so.

He's very good though.

This is a hell of a game:

36.7 seconds left, OK 72, FGCU 70.

Or, I gave it some thought and he's not top 10 this millenia....

In no order off the top of my head coaches that I think are better than Mark Few this millenia....

Self (15th all time in wins)
Roy (5th all time in wins)
K (1st all time in wins)
Wright (2 nattys)
Donovan (2 nattys)
Calipari (14th all time in wins)
Izzo (38th all time in wins, 1 natty)
Calhoun (4th all time in wins)
Pitino (35th all time in wins)
Lute Olson (17th all time in wins)
Boeheim (2nd all time in wins, 1 natty)

Then you get into the group with Rick Barnes (18th all time in wins) , Kelvin Sampson (27th all time in wins), Lon Kruger, bob huggins....

I'm not sure he's even top 15 now that I start looking....

When he tastes blood he really is the worst.

He simply is Gutters protege.
Gutter has gone a bit mild with age.

I almost went down rabbit hole pointing out few has best win percentage (by a good margin in many cases) over all those coaches. But I figured it out in time.

LOL

Where would you rank Mark Few's career on that list of coaches who coached this millenia?

Genuinely curious...

Sure. He's the only one on that list that coaches at a mid major and gets 12-14 freebie wins every season in conference.

Win % and most consecutive sweet 16s is about the only thing he's got on any coach I listed.

Well, and maybe a 1 DUI lead on everyone but Huggins?
