In his senior season, Perry Ellis averaged 18.8 PPG vs ranked teams.

Perry sucked in that Nova game, his last one, no doubt.
But he very much helped us get there -- 21 points, 21 points, 27 points in the 3 games previous.

I'd absolutely love to get another 4 with perry's offensive game. 6'8 bucket machine with a shooting stroke. Yes please

If you could combine Perry's offense with KJ's defense you'd have a 1st team AA candidate.

It's almost sad how much better of a rebounder Perry was than Kj is even though Kj is so much more athletic/strong.

KJ just isn't instinctual, at all. Like he didn't play enough super high-level prep ball such that he would have had to figure out what to do when he DOESN'T have an overwhelming athletic advantage.

Perry, on the other hand, came to Kansas having figured out how to succeed at a high level at a (relative) athletic disadvantage.

KJ might be able to backup PE. if PE got tired. or foul trouble. he might be able to get into the game for a few minutes.

Perry was definitely better than Kj...but for some reason Kj is less frustrating.

Perry was Dedric if Dedric could only play one frontcourt position.

I don’t remember Dedric being a complete no-show for the biggest games of his career like Perry, either

"I don’t remember Dedric being a complete no-show for the biggest games of his career like Perry, either"

Perry Ellis 2016 Big 12 regular season + conference tourney + NCAA tourney points game log - average 18 PPG, 18.8 PPG vs ranked teams :

no. 23 Baylor 17
no. 2 Oklahoma 27
Texas Tech 15
no. 11 West Virginia 21
TCU 10
Oklahoma State 13
Texas 26
no. 14 Iowa State 23
Kansas State 19
TCU 23
no. 10 West Virginia 21
no. 3 Oklahoma 10
Oklahoma State 15
Kansas State 14
no. 19 Baylor 15
Texas Tech 8
no. 23 Texas 20
no. 21 Iowa State 22
Kansas State 21
no. 22 Baylor 20
no. 9 West Virginia 17
Austin Peay 21
UConn 21
no. 18 Maryland 27
no. 6 Villanova 4

Dumb narrative - with no basis in fact.
Unless biggest games of his career is that singular very last game.

Other last games of the season for him:
v Wichita State ( while hurt ) : 17 points, 8 rebounds
v Stanford ( still a sophomore ) : 9 points, 8 rebounds
v Michigan ( freshman ) : 8 points, 5 rebounds, 15 minutes

Dedric hardly played in any big games.

The legend of Perry is filled with false accusations. He had some duds, like anyone who starts for that many years, but his perceived lack of performance in big games is vastly overblown. Some people really define careers by the very last game they remember. It happened with Perry. And sort of with Sherron also.

He did completely disappear in that last game v Nova.
That sucked.
But he averaged 23 PPG in the 3 games before that which is not nothing bc that was the furthest KU had advanced in the tournament for 4 seasons.

Guess we have to put Svi on here then if we are judging entire careers based on their final big game.
Bummer.
I thought Svi was really really good his last season at KU.

Svi was really really good.

Dude was big for us guarding Dook’s NBA farm team frontcourt, and hit one of the more clutch shots in program history

How’d he do overall in that game?
And the game after v Nova?

I agree he was good…just silly knocking Perry and then hyping Svi as you just did.

I totally agree.

Whole premise goes against my grain.
