You do understand that the women's ball is smaller but the rims are the same size? So there is more margin for error. The diameter of the women's ball allows for 3 to fit through the rim at the same time, but the slightly larger men's ball will only allow for 1 to fit through at a time

#geometry
WTF are you talking about?

Basketballs used in the NCAA are between 9.39 and 9.55 inches for men and 9.07 and 9.23 inches for women.

The rim is 18 inches in diameter. The only balks going through three at the same time are those little mini balls you get from Pizza Hut.

Geometry twocoach geometry. Think about it. 3 fit. They are not set in a straight line. The circumferences fit

Weird thing to post after a game with a combined 15-50 shooting from 3 with 30 turnovers.
I think it is the technique. Used to two hand bricks I guess

The lesser speed, size and height of women's players gives players more time and space to utilize more fundamentally sound technique. It's a different version of basketball that has definitely gotten to be a etter overall quality than it was even 10 years ago.

But there is still a HUGE talent gap between the top tier teams and the rest of the field. Watching KU play USC was an eye opener. They simply had more skill top to bottom than Kansas did. You just don't see as many games like that on the men's side.

I am glad the women's game is getting more coverage and on bigger channels. It can only help to continue to inspire more girls to take up the game and get good at it and we as fans benefit from it.

Clark has introduced a consistent extended range game and it is shockingly better than a few years ago to someone who hadn't watched much except KU. I think Clark is astounding. She is more like Bird than I understood. But with Curry range. I watched the WNBA quite a bit here in San Antonio. But not paying much attention to college while there were only a few good teams in the NCAA. Yow. Last night was better than any of the Silver Stars games I watched over the decade.
Fwiw (A loss to South Carolina and a few Pop Corners that I'm eating right now?)
If I am not mistaken, I think Clark shot a better % from behind the 3 point line as a Freshman as she did as a Senior. Yes, she probably took shots from deeper as a Senior but I would rather have my player shoot and make 3s from closer range than miss them from further.

P.S. She missed 8 more 3 pointers than she made last night. Just like she did against Colorado.
She missed 9 more than she made against West Virginia.
She had games during the season where she shot 2-14, 3-16, 2-11, and 2-16.

i’m sure she became more of the focus for defenses through the years

she was also almost exclusively face-guarded against uconn

but i’m sure you know this

And..... You and I understand that great shooters have off days/nights.
Sure, she's a great shooter but the FACT is, there were a whole bunch of players who had better 3 point shooting percentages than she did.

And.... You and I understand many of those players weren't defended by their opponents best defenders nor "keyed" on as often as Clark was.

And.....
And....
And....

Sorry, I'm just not as in awe of her as a shooter as many other people are. That's all. If that makes me a hater, then so be it.
Speaking of being in awe, today I was in awe of my 90 year old mother rambling off things about Caitlin Clark that I didn't know.
My mother actually knew that she led the NCAA in assists during the regular season. I admit I didn't know that.
What I do know and am impressed about her is that she is averaging 7.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists in the tournament. That impresses me more than her averring 22 shots a game.

she’s got all-around game and makes her teammates better

if you don’t think she’s also a phenomenal shooter, i’m not sure what to tell ya. she’s likely to go first in the wnba draft, after breaking countless ncaa scoring records

i just really don’t understand downplaying her accomplishments

Sorry, I just don't think she's a "phenomenal" shooter. Unless I am mistaken - and stats lie.
To me, no doubt she is a "great" shooter - but there are better shooters.
What I do think is "phenomenal" about her is - her scoring and all around game as a player.
Yes, Clark will go number 1. (Although, UConn alum ;) Diana Taurasi said she would take Bueckers #1 - see video below).
She 100% deserves praise for the scoring record/s she has broken but let's be honest, if other players shot as much as she did, she would have less scoring records.

Great news for the women's game.

If yous people are talking about s women's game this long, and care enough to argue about players etc, chances are others are/do too.

I think it's very much Caitlin Clark.
She's the all time D1 scorer and she's in the championship again.
She's the only reason why I tuned in this last game.

She must have trained at the Duke school of basketball because she complains about calls non stop.

But she's doing impressive things on offense (she doesn't even put her hands up on defense about half the time).

This is all absolutely awesome for the women's game. Hard to find any negatives in any of it (for me).

She has revolutionized the women's game while I wasn't watching. What a shock to see it. Her "misses" are very much defense pentagon and one strategies. I am more impressed with her assists frankly. She is competitive as Hell.

she still has eligibility. she should have stayed. nobody cares about the wnba. it will be a let down.
