more hurricane misinformation nonsense:

A mayor in Tennessee joined other local officials Friday to denounce skepticism and rumors that have swirled around the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) response to the devastation in the southeastern U.S. from Hurricane Helene.

Mayor Glenn Jacobs (R), who serves Knox County, Tenn., signaled in a post online that the attacks on the administration could make recovery efforts more difficult.

“To my knowledge, FEMA, TEMA, nor anyone else is confiscating supplies,” Jacobs, a former professional wrestler, wrote Friday in a post on social platform X. “Please quit spreading those rumors as they are counterproductive to response efforts.”

“If everyone could maybe please put aside the hate for a bit and pitch in to help, that would be great,” he added...

trumpty plumply looks like he is irritated with the exuberant toddler behind him taking away attention.

But more to the point of "not fit for office".
In a series of social media posts in August, former President Donald Trump called Vice President Kamala Harris “low IQ,” “dumb” and lacking “the mental capacity” to debate him. Although a substantial majority of Americans subsequently concluded that she beat him in their Sept. 10 face-off, Trump doubled down. “Kamala Harris is mentally impaired,” he said at a rally in Wisconsin last month. “Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way.”

In contrast, Trump — who often boasts about his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, home of “super genius stuff” at the Wharton School, and the difficulty of getting admitted to that prestigious institution — maintains that “I’m a really smart guy, you know, really smart.”

Trump did not graduate with honors from Penn. Nor has he authorized release of his college transcripts. And it wasn’t that difficult for a transfer student (in this case, from Fordham) to get in more than 50 years ago.

Innate and acquired intelligence is clearly not Trump’s long suit. He has demonstrated a staggering ignorance about American history. He has alleged that the noise from wind turbines causes cancer and that vaccines cause autism. He doesn’t understand that tariffs raise retail prices on imported goods, in essence imposing a national sales tax on all Americans, disproportionately affecting poor people and increasing inflation.

Trump’s public statements have also become increasingly incoherent. His explanation that he is not actually rambling (“You know, I swerve. You know what the swerve is. I’ll talk about like nine different things and they’ll come back brilliantly together, and it’s like friends of mine that are, like, English professors, they say ‘It’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen’”) does not pass the smell test.

Consider a few examples.

In January, in a speech about illegal drugs, Trump could not pronounce the word “smallest” and then said, “We are an institute in a powerful death penalty. We will put this on.”

At a rally in March, he complained about a photograph of President Biden in a bathing suit; made comments about Michael Jackson and Cary Grant (who, he pointed out, wouldn’t look good in a bathing suit at age 81, either) and bragged that women love him. “But it was an amazing phenomenon,” he continued, “and I do protect women. Look, they talk about suburban housewives. I believe I’m doing well — you know, the polls are rigged. Of course lately they haven’t been rigged because I’m winning by so much, so I don’t want to say it. Disregard that statement. I love the polls very much.”

Asked at the Economic Club of New York how he would reduce the cost of childcare and what specific legislation he’d propose on this subject, Trump replied: “Well, I would do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was somebody, we have had Sen. Marco Rubio and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue, but I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that, because, look childcare is childcare. It’s something you know you have to have it, in this country you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels they’re not used to — but they’ll get used to it very quickly — and it’s not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers we’re talking about, including childcare, that it’s going to take care. We’re gonna have — I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about in waste and fraud and all the other things that are going on in this country.”

Trump’s incoherence should give voters pause. Especially when they also consider his fundamental character flaws.

Insisting that he is “entitled to personal attacks,” Trump has mocked Biden’s childhood stutter. He has reposted crude and vulgar sexual comments about Harris. And he lies about all things great and small. The size of his crowds. Crime rates, inflation rates and the number of immigrants illegally entering the country. The result of the 2020 election. Teachers deciding whether transgender students should get operations. Haitian immigrants kidnapping, killing and eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

In selecting a president of the United States, the most powerful political figure in the world, knowledge, intelligence, cognitive acuity and character matter — more than anything else.

Why would they think that the conman's rubes were gullible?
Truth Social, launched in 2022 by former President Donald Trump, was designed as a safe space for his supporters to express their views without liberal opposition. Marketed as the exclusive platform where Trump actively engaged with followers after his Twitter ban, it has become a gathering place for many loyal fans. However, recent revelations indicate that the platform has also attracted a disturbing number of scammers, resulting in significant financial losses for many users.

Documents obtained by Gizmodo via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reveal that scammers have infiltrated Truth Social, preying on its users. Many victims have reported losing life-changing amounts of money in a short time, some exceeding hundreds of thousands of dollars. The complaints submitted to the FTC expose a range of issues, from unjust bans to unwanted subscriptions, but the most shocking reports detail users being defrauded of substantial sums.

Elderly Users at Greater Risk

A worrying trend has emerged: many victims of these scams are elderly supporters of Trump. For instance, a 72-year-old man disclosed losing $21,000 after conversing with a woman he met on the platform. He admitted, “I haven’t told my wife about this blunder. She still doesn’t know about it.” Another user, in their sixties, lost a staggering $500,000, expressing false optimism by stating, “After I pay this, they promise there will be no more fees, and I will receive my assets.”

What’s particularly alarming is that many users don’t fully grasp the deceit behind these scams. Scammers often create a false sense of security, showing victims fake accounts displaying large balances. These fabricated accounts lead victims to believe their investments are growing when, in fact, the money has disappeared. The illusion encourages them to invest even more.

The ‘Pig Butchering’ Scam Method

A prevalent scam method seen on Truth Social is called “pig butchering.” This technique involves scammers slowly gaining the victim’s trust while encouraging them to invest larger sums. All the while, they paint a picture of profitable investments, which is a complete facade. With an older user base that often consists of retirees with savings, Truth Social has unfortunately become an attractive target for these deceitful operations.

One case highlights this vulnerability: a Tennessee resident lost $170,000 after being approached by someone who claimed they could help recover money lost in a previous scam. Tragically, this too was part of a larger scam. Victims are often urged to move their conversations from Truth Social to more private messaging apps, like WhatsApp, where scammers can manipulate them more easily.

Significant Financial Impact

The financial impact of these scams is staggering. Reports show individual losses ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Along with the Tennessee victim, others include a Minnesota resident who lost $500,000 and a New Yorker who lost $168,000. These accounts reveal a worrying trend of deception, indicating a coordinated effort to exploit vulnerable users.

Though the FTC redacted personal details from the complaints shared with Gizmodo, the patterns suggest genuine cases of fraud. Many victims are older individuals who may be less aware of modern scamming tactics, underscoring the serious financial harm inflicted upon Truth Social users.

Wider Implications Across the Internet

While these scams are particularly prevalent on Truth Social, they are not confined to this platform. Fraudulent schemes like pig butchering are widespread across the internet, appearing on major social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. Scammers take advantage of users’ trust, often presenting themselves as credible individuals or organizations. Even savvy internet users can fall prey to these sophisticated tactics.

Truth Social’s demographic—primarily Trump supporters—makes it a particularly appealing target for fraudsters. The platform’s reputation as a haven for dedicated followers may further embolden scammers to exploit those who are emotionally and financially vulnerable.
So they have figured out that trumpty plumpty's followers are rubes? Say it ain't so.

Because no dark hole is too dark to go down.
Donald Trump revealed an unhinged eugenics theory Monday, claiming during a morning rant that some migrants have “bad genes” that make them predisposed to committing murder.

Trump spent a good chunk of an interview on the The Hugh Hewitt radio show slamming the policies of his political opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and baselessly accused her of wanting to install a communist government.

“She wants to [do] government housing. She wants to go into government feeding. She wants to feed people. She wants to feed people governmentally,” he said as host Hugh Hewitt, as he listened without saying a word. “She wants to go into a community party-type system. When you look at the things that she proposes, they’re so far off. She has no clue.”

Trump then attacked Harris’ handling of illegal immigration—despite her pushing back against his claims of a “crisis”—and alleged that she was letting people into the country with “bad genes.”

“How about allowing people to come to an open border, 13,000 of which were murders, many of them murdered far more than one person, and they are not happily living in the United States,” he said. “And now a murderer, I believe this, it’s in their genes.”

He added, “We got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.”
Yes, Kamala has let the "murder gene" into our country.
