I don't notice things like that, so I wouldn't know.
you didnt notice whether or not God sent them?
Maybe it's just me, but I don't notice things I don't believe in.

Something humbling I learned in med school:

We see what we know,
and we know what we've seen...

Childish Things, by James McMurtry:

...Now my boy goes like a house on fire
He'll never burn out and he'll never retire
And I remember when I used to think like that
When I was young and the world was flat
But I'm forty some years old now and man I don't care
All I want now is just a comfortable chair
And to sell all my stock and live on the coast
I don't believe in heaven but I still believe in ghosts*...

*Unlike japhy, I don't believe in ghosts.

(I could be wrong.)
I'm more convinced about ghosts thats for sure

and completely able to admit that I haven't the slightest fucking clue why we're here or what could possibly be after. I have my suspicions, but they're depressing so I instead try to not give it much thought.

ghosts, aliens, Bigfoot? yea im all in on at least 2 of those

I'm fairly sanguine about the whole thing; I believe there's more out there than we can perceive or even conceive of, but I also believe whatever he/she/it/they/whatever is, is deeply and profoundly unconcerned with me (or any of this).

I should say my thoughts are generally a tad more gloom and doom than that, but there is so so so much we can't know or understand. I'm reminded of how much I, we, humans, don't comprehend daily so, now I just generally run with the idea that nobody has any clue and those thay claim to are fuckin liars.

This is probably just a psychological security blanket, but I do NOT believe that, if there is a higher power, that higher power is cruel or vindictive or whatever.

I think the MOST likely thing, by far, is that my existence, my soul, is just utterly inconsequential to it (and that the MOST likely thing, by far, is that my consciousness will simply cease to exist when my body gives out).

If that's NOT the case, I do not have a lot of fear of eternal limbo or damnation.

I completely understand not wanting to vote for Biden in 2024.
I will NEVER understand those who like and want this man to be the President of the United States of America.

I suppose taking hot air out for a walk is sort of what we DO on thanksgiving.

Talk about "white trash with cash"...

If he didn't pose such a threat, I'd feel sorry for him.

But if he wins next Nov, the US as it's been for the last ~ 240 years, will be a thing of the past.

We ask the same question over and over again in so many different contexts: what’s it gonna take? Would someone murdering the judge’s clerk on tape while wearing a MAGA hat be enough? Would they have to put an ad in the NYT two weeks prior?

Govt notifies DC Circuit panel weighing Judge Chutkan's gag order of the NYAG's filing yesterday referencing 275 pages, single-spaced, of transcribed threats (~half including antisemitic remarks) rec'd by Judge Engoron & his principal law clerk after Trump posted attacks on her.

Soon, there won't be anyone left who is willing to run for office, be a judge or work in the court system, or man the polls on election day unless they're a confirmed MAGA fascist.

Which, of course, is the point...

But, Joe Biden's old, so we deserve that.

And then when Ds justifiably protest and a small number of them inevitably break windows or start fires or block freeways, we’ll turn our troops on our own citizens.

This isn’t exaggeration or hyperbole. This is what the right is telling us out loud it intends to and will do.

Isn't it exhausting to be in this much of a frenzy 24/7?

Not in a frenzy at all. We’ve reached the point where all of this is, sadly and dangerously, pretty matter-of-fact. It is now normalized that a leading candidate for one party’s nomination is explicitly running on a “punish my political enemies” platform.

The vast majority of our country think Trump is nuts. Rightfully so. He's absolutely "dangerous", but our country will "survive" Trump. Even if he beats Biden.

If I had to rank all of the possibles for 2024 (even the longer shots), I'd have Trump dead last and Biden closer to last than first.

Who do you think will win, if not Trump or Biden?

I meant my personal rank. I am well aware, somehow, those 2 idiots will be our "real" choices.

Voters’ faith in Trump’s price-management bona fides may rest on nostalgia for the 2019 economy, antipathy for Biden, or the belief that The Apprentice was a documentary. One thing it most certainly does not rest on, however, is an accurate understanding of the Trump 2025 agenda’s macroeconomic implications.

That agenda includes imposing a 10 percent tariff on all foreign-made goods, enacting large deficit-financed tax cuts, and slashing America’s foreign-born labor force through mass deportations and immigration restriction. Taken together, this constitutes a recipe for a drastic increase in U.S. consumer prices.
