A fact which is nonetheless utterly meaningless under the current system. Yet you keep bringing it up as if it matters. Odd.
I hope the system stays the same.
As do I. Without it, all that would matter is winning California, New York, and a couple other population centers. Those of us in flyover country would have no voice.

Would not have an outsized voice.

No, not odd at all. Geezer was replying directly to Gutter’s Mother who mistakenly said that Trump got more votes.

Sea and Geez and Dr. - Yes, MAJOR mistake made by me stating that Trump received more votes than Hillary.
The fact that he got "enough" votes ("popular votes" and then therefore "Electoral College" "votes") is still mind blowing to me.

Illini - Of course you do.
Now move to bumble fuck Idaho and tell me how you feel when theoretically your vote basically counts 1/10 as much as if you lived in California.

Ironically, though, it is the people in California and New York who are complaining the loudest. Most of us living in places like "Bumblef**k, Idaho" are thrilled that our voices were heard this time around.

The issues that impact new York City and California are much different than those faced in the flyover states. That's why we need the system that is in place.

Besides if my math is correct it was put together 231 years ago by a bunch of white dudes and there would be a need for it to be amended 25 or more times for reasons that included Blacks/slaves and Women were not considered human beings in terms of their rights - not much.
Why would I?

Why does the Right choose to only like the parts of the Constitution that they agree with?

Why should flyover state folk get more of a say than those in NY, Cali, etc.?

If the last two elections are any indicator, it seems to trade off in eight year cycles. Nobody in flyover country was happy about Obama, but we lived through it. You will survive Trump.

They wouldn't. Every vote would count equally.

They wouldn't. Every vote would count equally.
Then, by force of sheer numbers, those in less-populated areas, with different priorities and values, would be made irrelevant by those with higher population density. The exact reason for the Electoral College in the first place.

Every vote does count equally within each state.we are a collection of 50 states. This isn't difficult to understand.

It's only difficult to "understand" when your candidate loses. The rest is basic 9th grade civics/government.

If California and New York (etc) populations controlled the entire country then we'd be headed for our 2nd civil war....which we may already be headed for anyway.
