Re: Medical Issues
And then a lot of jobs became sitting at desk in front of computers. And Covid pushed the technology to allow most of those and others to at least partially remote. In addition, advances in medicine now allow a lot of people that would ordinarily have been dead by now to still be breathing, but they...

Re: Medical Issues
Gutter, does your team of desk jockeys have zero remote days allowed? It seems your employer breeds the culture of coming to the office at all costs... damn you, the environment and the health of their worker pawns. I may see my supervisor in person three times a year. We are a professional staff (4...

Whoa. Selective memory there, Sparko. The umpires were oblivious to the pine tar infraction until Billy Martin (fucking Yankees) pointed it out to the ump. Brett was called out. Yankees won the game. I thought the reference to the pine tar instance was the steaming hot player being held back by his...

Re: Refs
So I heard from the national talking heads this week that is common for the officials to warn the non-eligible receivers on the line, but not the others on the line. The receivers check themselves or get confirmation from the ref. Another thing I heard was that KC's offensive line needs to look like...

my interest is taking a nose dive. The one and dones lowered it. The transfers are causing a nose dive. There is 20 years of data here showing my decline.

Re: Blue Bloods
The term "blue blood" originally referred to royals. Nobles did not have to work in the sun thus their blue blood veins showed through their fair white skin. Asking who the "royalty" of college basketball is might change the criteria somewhat. Just some fun semantics for discussi...

Re: Uncle Joe
I have not touched a snow shovel yet. I am still hoping to mow the lawn one more time this season. I was raking leaves this morning in the 45F weather. I did, however, see some snow-covered cars at work a few days ago when it was colder. Lake Effect is like that.... bands of snow. One neighborhood g...

Re: The republican War On Women
Per a long NPR story yesterday (I don't recall which show was playing), abortions have increased. The ability to travel and the ability to get abortion pills in the mail (via tele doctors or other means) had allowed abortions to continue. The exact reasons for why abortions have INCREASED was not sc...

Re: The Travel Thread
I love airports and travel. I don't fly with my current job, but did in an earlier chapter. It was enough to keep track of points with several carriers. I hate SWA boarding. I don't want to stand around like cattle on SWA when I can board last with a designated seat with anyone else. I board early e...

IMO, a simple Waldorf Salad is a very nice complement to the heaviness of most of the other traditional foods. The colors are nice and the ingredients (apples, celery, walnuts, grapes) are seasonal too.

partisan push: If you do not know who to pick and they all seem like scum, think of it like driving a car. Pick D to drive forward and pick R if you want to go in Reverse. If you want to stay away from the major two parties, pick the candidates on one of those lines, but actually vote for them on a ...

Re: Nov 2023: I voted thread
If you are worried that your vote does not count for much, know that it counts for more this year. It is not a Presidential election year, so there are fewer people voting. Therefore, your vote can pull more weight.
Decent people who stay home elect crazies and shills.

Re: Nov 2023: I voted thread
I just got back from voting. The average age there was ancient. There was one short line. It took 6 minutes from when I joined the line to when I left the polling place. Considering that I can go to any early voting location in my entire county, thus they are printing each ballot individually, that ...

Nov 2023: I voted thread
PSA: If you are on the Poli-Bored, I assume you give a fuck. Go vote. There are resources freely available and time to figure out your plan. Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 is an election day, and I am fairly certain there is something in your neighborhood to vote for. Most of us can vote today or this...

Fake news. We already have those. Check out Archer. Beating paramedics is exactly one of the early selling points for approval. But that is just dressing.
