The fact that we got lit up by Marial Shayok last night makes me like Tony Bennett as a coach even less.
He had a guy for 3 years who was capable of leading the Big12 in scoring and he couldn't even average double figure scoring in Tony Bennett's offense. Seeing that can't possibly help him in recruiting.
"Are you talented enough to be an all-conference player? I'll make sure you never average more than 8 ppg." --Tony Bennett (he didn't actually say that, to my knowledge)

Re: Tony Bennett
That’s a good point. Brogdon is better in the league, too.
Has to hurt recruiting. That guy leaving UVA which has won a ton of games for ISU. Telling.

Re: Tony Bennett
I think those with a keen basketball eye know talent even when Bennett hides it.

"... ISU with Wiggington, Lard, and Marial Shayok, who everyone seems to be forgetting. That dude's numbers are deflated from playing at Virginia - he can ball."

Re: Tony Bennett
I was just looking at Klay Thompson's stats at Washington St.
It's not really fair, because a lot of players make a huge improvement over one offseason, but as a freshman under bennett he averaged 12.5 ppg in 33 minutes.
And then as a So and Jr after Bennett left he averaged 19.6 and 21.6 in 35 and 35 minutes.

Virginia 10-Clemson 2 at the 10 minute mark of the first half.
Honored to have been voted 2017 kansascrimson poster of the year
Re: Tony Bennett
KU averages 79.1 points per game.
UVA averages 74.6 points per game.
That was sort of surprising to me.
Last year was 81.5 us to 67.5 them. Which was more what I was expecting to see...but it's very possible they will end up closer to that high 60s average by the end of ACC play.

Their SOS is 158, ours is 3 in kenpom. Probably a yuge factor in that.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:37 am KU averages 79.1 points per game.
