The myth is that Quad Four wins mattered. The team was battered theough a brutal schedule and only got a tee shirt.

They wanted their made for TV match up on Saturday between Self and Illinois.

I think we are alright. Play the cards dealt. Prove the doubters wrong. Getting pummeled by TCU in Larry didn’t help. Also getting beat by Tejas in B12 tournament by double digits; also not good. Now, go prove them wrong.

UConn is 4th in Kenpom and 5th in Barttorvik.

I’ve seen them twice this year and they looked very good.

Same. They were preseason top 10 and kind of underachieved. Think that had some injuries. But there is talent on their roster. And a good up and coming coach

We technically played Illinois this year already, in a closed gym exhibition

I think we will make the elite 8, our road actually isn't that tough until then imo. Likely UCLA or Gonzaga. We can beat them.

Maybe another rematch with Texas.

I think Alabama has a pretty easy path. To the elite 8.

Who is "they"?
Self has already coached against Illinois in the tournament as a 1 - and they were the 9. Worked out just fine for us.

Also:

Illinois being near us is a made for TV thing.

As is Auburn being in Alabama as a 9 seed. And UCLA and Gonzaga both being in the west. Gotta sell those tickets NCAA!

The committee. The people who make the brackets.

When you are Kansas, there is a storyline with every team on every seed line.

Based on all these guys picking us to make elite 8/final 4 it doesn't appear we have many doubters.

We avoided PDubs KC curse, but did not avoid Ousdahls Pac12 curse w/ UCLA as our 2.

I have a love hate relationship with the tournament. What looks like a hard bracket tonight may look like an easy bracket by Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

KU vs Roy (former coach) multiple times

Self (former coach) vs Illinois (multiple times)

Pretty big storylines.

Although Illinois may lose to Arkansas, so there's that.

The storyline with Arkansas is that the word Kansas is right there in the name. So that's a pretty big deal too.

I have talked myself into being ok with the West. Play with a chip on the shoulder. Self does well on the road and the regional games are in Vegas, not LA. No pressure of a nervous KC crowd.

Bill Self coached at Illinois 20 years ago. Sure those on the committee realize that fact but my guess is they are smart enough to realize 95% of non Illinois and non KU fans probably couldn't give a flying flip about that irrelevant (to them) story line.

Arkansas has a better eFG percentage defense than we do. We have had a tougher schedule but they aren’t a slouch there either at 19th.

They have a number of close losses.

I’d rather see Illinois even if it’s gonna be a Self storyline.
