Tell me, how many of each 100 pennies of aid end up in Ukraine?Cassandra wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 12:01 pm "I may be early, but I'm not wrong."
But also, all this money being sent to Ukraine isn't helping either. People who are based, they realize this currency was created for Ukraine. The wise Americans are preparing for a decreased standard of living in the future.

So you live in a shitty neighborhood.....
I saw the worst minds of my generation empowered by madness, bloated farcical naked,
dragging themselves through the whitewashed streets at dawn looking for a grievance fix.

Monterey Park isn't exactly a shitty neighborhood (unless you don't like Asians) but his showing the decrease in a listing price on one house in his hood as an indicator of an entire housing market is pretty humorous.

Of course it's not. It's actually one of the best places to live in the area. Very safe, lots of good food, etc. The bigger problem is, it's still part of a state that is declining due to bad policies.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 1:25 pmMonterey Park isn't exactly a shitty neighborhood (unless you don't like Asians)...
Re: 2024
Redfin puts an estimate on that property's value as $756k. Looks like your neighbor just has a shitty realtor and overpriced their property trying to gouge people. Rough life when you "only" get $750k for a 1,400 square foot house with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.

I wouldn’t have expected a frugal foodie to be a close-the-border guy. We all contain multitudes, I suppose.Cassandra wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 1:26 pmOf course it's not. I grew up not far from there at all (or there, depending on how one defines LA).
The weather and lifestyle do not, for me, come remotely close to justifying the negatives.
To me, the most notable of those are (1) cost of living, (2) traffic and most of all (3) a way, WAY, WAAAAAAYYYYY too great a percentage of people who don’t fucking do anything.
Re: 2024
You couldn't pay me enough to make me want to live in LA. Too expensive, too congested and too many people who are too worried about appearances. What you drive, what you wear, what you look like. I find personal vanities to be rather gross in general.

Well, much of the south is... not good. But there's lots of very good places in the midwest (KC being one).
Cali is, in decline. Come visit all you like, but I wouldn't recommend people try to come live here.
