2022 Big 12 Awards
Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
unless OA and the team just blow up this postseason, i will remember OA as a good player that had 1 great season.
he is not on the same level as SC. but no one is. SC is in the conversation for greatest JAYHAWK since DMan.

Hi, board's biggest Sherron critic logging on.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 11:28 am Sherron Collins never had as good of an individual season as what ochai just did
Sherron's junior season was comparable to Ochai's senior season, and I'd argue Sherron had less to work with.
Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
This postseason will be an enormous factor in how we define Agbaji's career. As mentioned he never got 2020 and '19 and '21 were stinkers of the highest order.
We go final four or further and your looking at 1st tier.
We bow out early, and it becomes a guy with a great statistical year. He'd be Simien but ignoring the 2 Roy years.

Wait, I thought I was alone on that you can't necessarily take individual accolades on their face.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 12:13 pmHi, board's biggest Sherron critic logging on.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 11:28 am Sherron Collins never had as good of an individual season as what ochai just did

Sherrons Jr year was comparable to ochais senior year. Not quite as good imo. Ochai had a better supporting cast and team, so slightly different situation

But then sherron came back as a senior and was worse. He was on what could have been selfs most loaded team and we lost to fucking northern Iowa. Thats a pretty big blemish on sherrons legacy

Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
Sherron was a first team all american as a senior. But it felt like that award was more of a preconceived notion than something he necessarily earned based on that season. He was the big name senior leader of the best team in the country that year. I know they call it March madness but I just don't know how the hell sherron didnt get us past northern Iowa.
If we judge ochais legacy based on what happens in March, we can't overlook sherrons

um, SC was a major contributor to a national championship.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 2:21 pm If we judge ochais legacy based on what happens in March, we can't overlook sherrons
move on. OA's KANSAS career compared to SC's don't pass the smell test.

One of few times I will agree with MICH is against randy.
For all intents and purposes, Sherron was a starter on that 2008 team. Very important player for that team's ceiling.

Mario get's all the love for hitting "the shot", but that's not even a thing without Sherron's steal and subsequent 3. That play doesn't get enough credit.

Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
sherron played 24 minutes a game. averaged 9 points. for that championship team. the championship team also had 5 other guys that got drafted that season. plus senior russ rob. plus freshman cole. it was far from the sherron show
if mario doesnt hit that shot, sherron is remembered way differently.
sherron was an awesome little player. i liked him a lot. he made big plays. he also failed to show up for the northern iowa game. both are true.

What about the other 142 games he played? Or was the UNI game the only time he played for Kansas?

sherron played 4 years when were absolutely loaded with talent. the golden age of kansas basketball. at no point in his career did i think he was even for sure the best player on his team. he had a damn fine career. but he was also a short point guard with weight problems

ochai on the other hand is a long elite athlete that was a good defender and rebounder too. sherron was basically just offense. and he would do stupid shit like let his ego get in the way and get himself into one on one match ups

Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
when you are supposed to be a 1st team all american senior leader of the best team in basketball, not showing up for an ncaa tourney game is pretty unacceptable. youve gotta get your team past northern iowa if you wanna be considered "all time great"NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 4:36 pm What about the other 142 games he played? sherron had a damn fine career no doubt. just saying, and yall are proving, that some jayhawk fans have made him out to be a little more than he was.

he had a damn fine career and put up notable numbers IN SPITE of being surrounded by some of the best talent in Self’s tenurerandylahey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 4:38 pm sherron played 4 years when were absolutely loaded with talent. the golden age of kansas basketball. at no point in his career did i think he was even for sure the best player on his team. he had a damn fine career. but he was also a short point guard with weight problems
yes, he had his issues…but the length some will go to in order to downplay what he did while in a KU uniform is just silly

Re: 2022 Big 12 Awards
I mean his notable numbers were his junior year. When he was surrounded by a bunch of kids. Freshman that weren't ready. But he did a good job carrying that team to an ok season.
I'm not downplaying that he was good. But people saying he's the best since Danny is silly. Theres a dozen other guys you could make an argument for
