Dedric should have won but they gave it to the best player on the best team.
( so the opposite of 2014 )

No surprises on the 1st team:
Jarrett Culver, Dedric, larrybird, Barry Brown, Shayok

COY Beard. Duh.
DPOY Brown.
Sideshow Bob Jax Hayes Frosh of the year.
Dedric newcomer of the year.

Garrett makes it on the All D team.
Dotson makes it on the 3rd All B12 team.

Bill hasn't exactly been giving Dedric a ringing endorsement. Probably a mistake not to do so.

That said, I would have voted for Culver. Put up great games in the biggest of moments.

Wade was not 1st team caliber this season, but it's hard to say that anyone on the 2nd team got snubbed.

larrybird had a better junior season.
12.3 ppg and 5.1 rpg on 47% shooting ( as opposed to 18.8, 6.3 on 55% last season ).
but yea, lack of competition ( Desmond Bane? ) keeps him up there.

I would have voted for Dedric.
He never put up fewer than 13 in a conference game.
He finished the season with 4 straight double doubles, had 12 double doubles out of 18 games.

And all of this with teams well knowing he was our only source of offense for half the conference season.

I can't fault anyone for voting for Lawson or Culver. None of our guys were going to get any favors from league coaches this season in voting between the FBI crap and the streak finally ending. Dedric just led the league in points and boards, so can't say he didn't do about all he could.

Brown would have been the wrong choice. Wouldn't have made sense with Culver going 9-0 to finish it out.

Wasn't sulking in 2013.
Probably not 2005 either.
Has as many Adolph Rupp Cup, Naismith College Coach of the Year, NABC Coach of the Year, and Henry Iba awards as Bill Self has.
Just sayin'.

Dedic put those numbers up despite being doubled teamed much of the year. Had Dok not been injured Dedric's stats would have probably been higher, at least scoring, and the 'Hawks probably win the league. Dedric was robbed

Dok playing does not raise Dedric's scoring. More assists? Sure. More points? No.

I think Dedric's scoring would be down.
Like 17.5 PPG kinda deal.
Assists up a bit. FG% up a bit.

Because he was our lone big for good parts of the season, and still put up those numbers, is why I'd have voted for him.

Should he have been sulking those other 12 seasons? I ask because he wasn't favored to win the conference those other 12 years. Right?

no expectations so no disappointment.
