Jalen Coleman-Lands
Deserves his own thread. One of the weirdest stories I've heard in awhile. This will be his 7th year in college basketball. 7th. fourth team

Re: Jalen Coleman-Lands
His first two years at DePaul were both redshirt seasons. Sat out 2017-18 when he transferred from Illinois. Granted a medical redshirt for 2018-19 when he only played 9 games due to a broken hand.

Re: Jalen Coleman-Lands
From what Ive gathered:
Was originally a four star guard from Indiana. 6'4 combo guard top 50 player. ranked as high as 34/37/39 by espn/247/rivals
1st year - 10 pts 42% 3p played 26 minutes a game. started 24 games as a true freshaman at Illinois
2nd year - 8 pts 38% 3p played 24 minutes a game. started 15 games at illlinois
3rd year - sat out this year at depaul. transfer/redshirt year. also had a leg surgery
4th year - only played 9 games started them all. 9.6 pts on 25% 3p. played 30 minutes a game at depaul. broke his hand. was eventually given a medical redshirt and extra year by the NCAA
5th year - final year at depaul. 11 pts 32% 3p. played 30 minutes again started all 32 games
6th year - Transferred to Iowa st as a grad transfer. 14 pts 4 rb 40% 3p. started all 22 games and was all big 12 honorable mention
7th year - Senior covid free extra year of eligibility loophole. He's coming here to KU to compete for playing time

Re: Jalen Coleman-Lands
I'm curious what his role will be. He's 24 already. should have a big advantage in maturity over most college players. Hes played big minutes his entire career (30ish average). started 102 games already in the big 10, big east, and big 12. 6'4 guard
I was completely underwhelmed to hear we got someone from Iowa st. but he dropped 20 on us both times we played them last season. But digging deeper this guy honestly sounds like a really solid pick up

I was about to ask, how old is this guy?? Committed in 2014 to Illinois, and he's now here? Hopefully he ends up being an important player.

JCL was in the HS Class of 2015 with Ben Simmons, Jaylen Brown, Cheick Diallo and a year ahead of KU 6th year player Mitch Lightfoot.
Dude will be 25 when the season starts.

FWIW, isn't Mark Vital also 25 years old?

Re: Jalen Coleman-Lands
I admit it is starting to sink in how old 25 years old is for a CBB player.
Kentucky has probably retired jerseys of younger players.

Re: Jalen Coleman-Lands
Just did research, Kentucky has only retired 2 players jerseys. 2!!!! (As of article I read in 2020)
Jamal Mashburn and Tony Delk.
Not Prince, Bogans, Wall, AD or any others.
Shocking.
