2022-2023 Bracketology

Post by NewtonHawk11 »

Palm at CBS Sports has KU as a 1 seed out West. That regional is in Vegas. :)

Lunardi hasn't updated since weekend but last one showed KU as the 1 seed in the East in NYC.

Both great landing spots if it isn't going to be KC.

Giving us (or KSU) a 2 in KC would be such an F-U to Bama, Tenn, or Houston.

Was it 2019 when they put us in Midwest in KC?

Yeah, Roy was super pissed.

He was also pissed about 2013, but that was ridiculous because they were an 8 seed.

KC as a 4 seed seems less egregious to me because when you're that far down the S-Curve, shit just falls randomly.

my memory is phoggy on details like this, but i’m assuming geography has little correlation with tourney success, at least for KU
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

When you're always a 1, 2, or 3, it's hard to use data on it because we almost always get our geographical preference.

We have won Elite Eight games in: Detroit, St. Louis, Omaha, and Chicago. All of those were Midwest regionals. So is it that the team was good that season to get the MW regional or did the location help? More of the former than the latter, for sure, but it's interesting.

It matters for the fans, though, no question.

Some of those are also serious outliers, like Detroit in 1988. Did it help? Maybe. But there are also cases where it didn’t help- Virginia in 1995 (?) and Oregon more recently

Played less than 10 minutes drive from my house, in San Jose! Couldn’t get tickets, so watched at a bar with a few alumni. In some respects it was less painful that we didn’t attend the game, although we all felt that the outcome would have been different if we were there 😄

Russ Westbrook was on that team.
I forgot who sank the dagger end of the shot clock three ( Darren Collison? ) but I remember screaming no after.

Westbrook only played 5min. He was super raw

That UCLA team had several pros. Collison Afflalo Mbah a Moute and Josh Shipp

Chalmers was awful that game. 1-8 fgs, 7 turnovers. 6 steals though. Sherron was really bad too.

It’s weird but 12-6 might win the B12 and then the committee has to decide if that’s 1 quality.
