Her best friend just bought an XC60 hybrid, that thing is badass to drive.

Now the wife is kicking around the idea of buying a XC40 recharge.

Newer Volvos are seriously under rated
I have an XC90. Really happy with it. It's a few years old now, and still on par (technology-wise) with the stuff even the Germans are selling new now.

The only real drawback (which is very much a your-mileage-may-vary thing) is that if you don't get the hybrid (I did not), there are only four-cylinder options. Power is quite ample (by way of twin chargers), but it's whiny if you really go to the whip.
The wife also has an xc90. I drive it a lot since it has the car seats. It’s been a great vehicle.

Yeah, the wife has a Supercharged 4 cylinder. In “dynamic” mode, it is surprisingly quick.

She loves drag racing it

VW bringing back the Scout…as an EV
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Is it still a Scout, though? Different company. Different Generation. It's supposedly for off-road and has four wheels. My interest is piqued.

supposedly Scout will be a separate brand from VW, despite the ownership

it’ll be a separate, independent US company

the initial sketches of the two proposed models are pretty damn sexy

our grid is nowhere near ready for the draw required to make the push for all electric feasible.

Why do you think Cascadia’s comment was directed at you or insinuated that you are a Republican?

Texas power grid problems are direct evidence that Republicans believe government is the problem, get elected and prove it. It’s a failure of removing regulations on “regulated utilities” - centerpiece of Republicans ideology. They didn’t do anything after the last grid disaster (maybe one thing - Rafael knew better than to run away to Cancun this time).

Yes, Republicans are so stupid.

you must be new to Cascadia

its not just a Texas problem. Particularly with the water levels dropping in the reservoirs and hydroelectric power potentially being shut off this summer. They've already warned of rolling brown outs in multiple states. Add to that the need for additional charging stations and we're going to have real problems trying to keep up.

im not saying we shouldn't try to move towards a more electric based system. Im saying their are some real logistical barriers that need to be addressed. Its a great political answer to mandate that we're going to go all electric by 2040 and all will be well, solve all our problems. Thats just not true. Between the current state of the grid and supporting infrastructure, the impact of mining for the limited reserves of lithium, and the current ineffiency in recycling the batteries....we have a ways to go before that's a feasible solution.

Yes, absolutely, in big cities. That's not realistic in the rest of the country, though.

Grown men commenting/speculating about other men's dick size is really odd to me.
