I saw one of those in East Germany once, it was fucking awesome. I don't think it's there any more.
Wasn’t that designed to keep people in?
Exactly, and it didn't work there either.
It might work to keep people out.

It can't even keep VEHICLES from crossing.

A .50 caliber round through the engine block does wonders for that problem. Guards, drones, and other tech solutions will have to be used.

The Berlin wall was built to keep the commies from escaping the East to W. Berlin. Anybody in W. Berlin could pass through the checkpoints into East Germany any time they wanted to. Along with W. German friends, I went to the east numerous times to visit friends.

That must have been kind of surreal.

Interesting how compassion is an inverse function of proximity to the crisis itself.

But then on the flip side, I feel that our government and our leadership have been failing us. There’s not one positive outcome that has come from this yet. And it seems like it’s just heading toward a downward spiral.”

There has been a marked increase in Border Patrol apprehensions of individuals with matches on the U.S. terror watchlist over the past two years. But they represent a tiny fraction of all migrants processed along the southern border. Such incidents are more common along the U.S.-Canada border, and not all those on the watchlist are suspected terrorists.

(I would suggest that recent events in Israel are fairly conclusive proof that a border wall strategy here would not and cannot work.)

(DeSantis just said on CNN that Israel has the "strongest border security in the world and this still happened to them." Tell me more, though, about how we should build a wall spanning eighty times the length of Gaza.)

I have been quite clear on my views about that.

You probably should, though, note that Congressional approval would have been required for the Trump-appropriated funds to have been used for anything BUT a wall (or at any time AFTER the end of this year), and I think you are aware of which side of the Congress refused to give such an approval.

Yes but the Israeli's built a "smart wall". trumplethinskin wants to build a "dumb wall". The rubes don't trust "smart", so it has their full throated support.
